In-Class Training

The Safe Start program is one of the most advanced curriculums in the country. Students use remote clickers to answer questions both cooperatively and individually. This state-of-the-art program uses knowledge-based questions and quizzes that are disguised as games, keeping the learning fun and interesting. This modern learning program updates the in-class instructor with each and every student’s marks in real-time. If there are any issues, the instructor will receive a notification and can discuss it with the student privately.

“I like the Bravo learning games and answering the questions using the clickers. My in-class instructor was funny and nice. The classroom was clean and comfortable.”

Homelink: Online Training

Homelink is designed to further reinforce the theories learned in the classroom. This independent studying can be completed at the student’s own pace. Homelink gives the student their scores in real-time and allows them to retake any quiz. Homelink not only works as a refresher to what was learned in the classroom but also assists students to further develop independent thought when it comes to making important decisions while behind the wheel.

“The online portion of the course was simple and very effective!”

In-Car Training

Once the classroom portion is complete, students are assigned a driving instructor of their choosing. Personalized in-vehicle lessons are created to expand the student’s knowledge. Our instructors’ top priority is preparing each and every student for a lifetime of safe driving. Students and parents can feel confident while training in-car. Drivewise instructors have decades of instructional experience. We are proud that our students are being trained by some of the most qualified instructors in the country. Drivewise vehicles are all maintained to the highest level and kept in safe, sanitary condition.

“My in-car driving instructor was excellent. She was very thorough when explaining rules of the road, she was also very calm and encouraging. She scheduled my lessons in a way that accommodated my schedule.”

Our Instructors

Meet the Drivewise Paris Team

Liz Humphrey

Liz joined the Drivewise team over ten years ago, having worked for another driving school previously. Her passion for both classroom and in-car instruction is apparent. Don’t be surprised if you since Liz dressed up in a costume on Halloween or making holiday treats for her students in December: Liz puts her all into what she does, every day. A parent herself, Liz enjoys spending time at home, music and travel.

James Guitar

A former member of the Canadian Armed Forces and a licensed real estate agent, James came to the Drivewise team after years of wearing many hats. Known for being thorough and patient, James has become a favourite instructor amongst students who are nervous or highly apprehensive about driving. His genuine sense of humour and ability to calm nerves are paired well with his excellent communication skills and drive for excellence. When not behind the wheel, you can find James enjoying time with his wife and son, listening to vintage vinyl or hanging out with his cat.

Sylvia Collins

Sylvia became a driving instructor in 1985 and has not only watched our Drivewise schools grow, but has owned her own school as well. After decades of success in the industry, Sylvia has gone on to travel the world, teaching driving in many places including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. She has helped change and shape governmental policies here and abroad, writing and consulting on various driving curriculums. She was recently appointed to the Ontario Safety League, one of the organizations that helps shape Ontario driving policies. A ground breaker and a mentor to hundreds of instructors and thousands of students, Sylvia brings a level of expertise to our organization that is hard to rival. When not teaching, Sylvia loves travel, time with her loved ones and collecting vintage Pyrex.

Kristine Hill, Owner

“If you were to have told me at age 16 that, some day, I would own a driving school, I would have told you that you were crazy!” says Kristine, who came into driving in one of the most difficult ways. Although a car enthusiast since she was old enough to walk, Kristine had an extremely hard time learning to drive due to some early negative teaching experiences. “I was going to give it all up and ride the bus. I had convinced myself I couldn’t do it.” With time and patience though, she eventually overcame the fear and it was “love at first drive” after that. Within five years, Kristine had become an avid driver, building and modifying her own show car. A love of driving soon combined with her love of teaching and, at that point, it was only a matter of time.

After a decade of working in automotive service management and event planning, Kristine decided that it was time to pursue her passion. “In my passion, I found my purpose” she writes, as she talks about the joy that she experienced when she finally began teaching. It was this passion that led former owners Jim and Diane Girard to select her as the new owner when they retired. Now four years in, Kristine has elevated the team to new heights and is enjoying watching the Drivewise dream grow. “Seeing my students succeed is everything to me. Knowing that there will be fewer collisions and losses of life because of what we do is simply incredible. I could not ask for more meaningful work.” When not teaching driving or showing cars, you can find Kristine enjoying time with her children, road tripping or antiquing.
