Our classroom is located at 2 Elm Street in Paris, in the bright and welcoming Paris Optimist Club. As a driving school founded on ethics and integrity, we are known for offering only live instructor-lead courses and ensuring that our staff undergo regular professional development and evaluation. All instructors are MTO certified and carry up-to-date OPP Vulnerable Sector Checks.
Our curriculum is widely regarded as the new leader in driver education and training. Not only do we teach all emergency driving manoeuvres, we are constantly upgrading and integrating new technology into our programming. Yes, we teach head on collision avoidance and gravel shoulder recovery! We are also known for being extremely thorough and producing students who arrive at the test centre prepared, confident and ready to pass.
We are fully insured and licensed. With our very own full time licensed 310S Mechanic in-house, every car is maintained and repaired to exceed Ministry standards.
If driving is your goal or your dream, we can help you achieve it. Whether you are an anxious driver who doesn’t believe that you can do this – or if you have been excited to drive since you were five years old – Drivewise Paris has what you need to shape you into a safe, confident driver. Every person who joins our program is given the personal cell phone number of the owner, along with direct contact information for their instructor. We provide ongoing support for all of our students.

Drivewise teaches the life saving manoeuvres known as Head-on Collision Avoidance and Gravel Shoulder Recovery. While these manoeuvres are not a required component of the Beginner Driver Education program, they are included in our Drivewise Safe Start program for every student.
Knowing what to do as a driver – and being able to respond quickly when a vehicle comes into your lane – can prevent a serious or fatal collision from occurring. Understanding how to handle a vehicle that has suddenly moved to a gravel shoulder, either in error or out of necessity, is also a critical skill that we believe all drivers should possess.
These manoeuvres are taught at no additional charge and are included in all Drivewise programs. Drivewise also includes an extensive in-class lesson on how to handle emergencies, ranging from what to do when a tire suddenly fails to what to do when your accelerator pedal becomes stuck. Going beyond the requirements of basic driver education is not just something that we do occasionally, it is our standard.

In 2008, Jim and Diane Girard, along with world class master instructor Sylvia Collins, set out to bring high quality driver education to the Paris community. Having grown up locally, The Optimist Club felt like a natural home to Jim, whose father was a founding member. Not long after, Drivewise Paris became a reality. In 2022, the company changed hands to one of its own in-car instructors, Kristine Hill – as Jim and Diane pursued a much deserved retirement. It has since evolved to include both in person and Zoom based learning, with the largest in-car instructor team in the region.
